Bio:
Based in Annan, Ontario, Emily Bi of Ginkgo Footprints is a permanent member of the Owen Sound Artists’ Co-op. With expressive brushstrokes, she aims to capture the beauty of nature via the mediums of ink on rick paper or silk, and acrylic on canvas. An avid gardener and collector of peony varieties, these along with plant species native to Grey Bruce, birds, and local landscapes are among her favourite painting subjects.
Starting out initially focusing on the two primary styles of ink washing (chinese brush painting), the loose and expressive freehand (xieyi) style, and the highly detailed meticulous (gongbi) style, Emily has also incorporated acrylics into her repertoire since 2018.

My inspiration:
My dad showed me how to be a strong person. My mom taught me that you can achieve what you want to be if you keep working on it.
I think art is:
English is my second language so art is the best language for me to express what my passion is, what I love, what I care about etc.
my favourite adjective:
‘Smart’ or ‘Efficient’. I like to do everything in a smart way if I can. Because I have so many tasks on my plate – job, art, gardening, music. I have to learn to do everything efficiently.
the qualities of a life fully lived:
Enjoy everything you like to do or are passionate about, and live in a simple way.
