Bio:
I am a Canadian musician and artist, creating abstract paintings for over 30
years. My work investigates the relationship of colour and mark-making as an
expression of the interweaving layers of life experience, giving visual
presence to the feeling of consciousness unfolding over time. I search for a spiritual connection to nature, and have travelled and painted across
the Canadian wilderness with the group DRAWNONWARD: on the Arctic
tundra, the Selkirk alpine, and on lakeshores and both coastlines.
In 2004 I built the SKIISL, an easel on skiis , ski-touring deep into the
mountains, pushing the boundaries of adventure-painting. Recently, I was profiled in Mountain Life Magazine, am a recipient of an Ontario Arts Council grant, and have received an Award for Artistic Innovation. I have held residencies on the MS Explorer, MS Clipper, Baldface Catski Lodge, and Gibraltar Point Artscape. My work is held by Canadian Art Bank, Nelson BC museum, Scotiabank,
Mattamy corp. collections, and has been shown and collected across
Canada, and in the US.
I currently split my time living and painting on the shores of
Georgian Bay, Ontario, and Slocan Lake, B.C.

Favourite artists:
My favourite artists are the brave ones, un-worried about the response of regular society to their work.
The purpose of art:
I feel that the purpose of art is to express parts of life that don’t lend themselves to words.
I am inspired by:
People who put in the effort to see life clearly, resisting the distracting effects of modern culture.
what I would do if I had absolute power:
Absolute power corrupts…do not seek it….true power is collective.
