Laurie Coish

Bio:

My name is Laurie Coish and I am local to the Grey / Bruce area. I currently have a dedicated studio residing in The GatheringTable located downtown Owen Sound. 

I have always loved colour and texture and that translates into the artwork I produce. I am an urban abstract artist that also likes to paint atmospheric seascapes that reflect the beauty that surrounds us in this region.  I am a self taught artist who has decided to step out from behind the canvas and share my art with everyone.

Favourite artists:

I could get very philosophical here but I will keep it simple. I have a few artists that I look to to keep me motivated but the ones that are really my favourites are the local emerging artists such as myself that show up everyday putting themselves and their work out there for all. 

The purpose of art:

To invoke thoughts and feelings through artistic impression. Making art for me is a way to release some of my own thoughts and feelings onto a canvas. 

Greatest source of pleasure:

My Greatest pleasure in my life is the life I am living now; I am a mom to two great kids, I have the best supportive husband and family who are always there for me, especially now as I take a chance on myself and become a full time artist and entrepreneur.

Nice! Everyone in my family uses it so I come by it honestly. Can I make you a nice cup of tea? How about a nice sandwich? Like as opposed to what? A bad one! Lol!
