A CREATIVE LEGACY FOR MEAFORD
The Saraby Sandblom Studio Fund
Investing in art, architecture, design and creative thinking.
What makes a community thrive?
A community is more than its buildings, businesses and infrastructure. It is also shaped by the ideas it encourages, the experiences it offers and the opportunities it creates for people to imagine something different.
Art and design contribute to the character of a place. They challenge assumptions, spark conversations, bring people together and introduce new ways of seeing the world.
We believe that creativity should not be limited to major cities or established cultural institutions. Smaller communities deserve opportunities to experience, participate in and contribute to ambitious, original creative work.
The Saraby Sandblom Studio Fund was established to help make that possible in Meaford, Ontario.
A permanent investment in creativity
Established through Community Foundation Grey Bruce, the Saraby Sandblom Studio Fund is a permanent charitable endowment dedicated to supporting art, architecture, design and creativity in Meaford.
The fund is intended to help enrich the cultural life of the community by creating opportunities for artistic exploration, creative learning and public engagement.
Its scope is deliberately broad. Creativity takes many forms, and some of the most interesting ideas emerge where disciplines overlap.
The fund has the potential to support initiatives such as:
- Opportunities for emerging and established artists to develop and share their work.
- Exhibitions, installations and public art that encourage curiosity and conversation.
- Creative workshops, talks and educational activities for people of different ages and backgrounds.
- Collaborations between artists, designers, educators and community organizations.
- Experimental projects that explore new ideas, materials and approaches.
- Initiatives that make art and design more accessible and visible in everyday community life.
These are examples of the possibilities the fund is intended to encourage, subject to the Community Foundation’s charitable granting policies.
Why an endowment?
Unlike a conventional fundraising campaign that collects and spends donations on a single project, an endowment is designed to provide support over the long term.
Contributions to the Saraby Sandblom Studio Fund are invested and managed by Community Foundation Grey Bruce. A portion of the fund’s value is made available for charitable purposes through the Foundation’s distribution policies, while the endowment is maintained to support future generations.
A donation made today can continue to make a difference many years from now.
As the fund grows, so does its potential to support meaningful creative opportunities in Meaford.
Why Meaford?
Meaford is a community with a rich history, a growing creative population and a strong sense of place.
Its artists, makers, designers and cultural organizations contribute to the town’s identity and vitality. Yet, as in many smaller communities, resources for experimentation, professional development and ambitious artistic projects can be limited.
The Saraby Sandblom Studio Fund aims to help bridge that gap.
We want to encourage creativity that is not necessarily commercial, conventional or immediately profitable. Work that introduces unfamiliar ideas, challenges expectations or simply gives people an opportunity to experience something they might not otherwise encounter.
We see creative activity not as a luxury, but as an important part of a healthy, engaged and forward-looking community.

Help shape what comes next
The most exciting creative ideas are often the ones we cannot yet anticipate.
A new artist. An unexpected collaboration. An unusual installation. A project that transforms how people experience a familiar place.
By contributing to the Saraby Sandblom Studio Fund, you are helping create the conditions in which those possibilities can emerge.
You are not simply supporting one exhibition, one artist or one event.
You are investing in the creative future of an entire community.
